I am bipolar and have OCD. I can't take a shower even in my own home without having flip flops on. I have tried many times but just feel disgusted by the feeling of the shower floor on my feet. I was just wondering if anyone else feels this way or did and what you've done to get over it? DO NOT PUT ANY STUPID ANSWERS, I WILL DELETE THEM............
Does anyone wear flip flops or shoes in their own shower?
haha that gives me a good chuckle this morning. No I don't wear flipflops in the shower but if you do that is ok. We all have our quirks and that is kind of a cute little quirk! So, just go with it; at the end of the day it hurts nobody. Embrace your uniqueness and invest in nice shower flipflops of various colors. If it makes you feel better to wear em in the shower...you go girl!
Reply:Me. I just think about all the bacteria on the floor and I start to get really grossed out. Dont worry, although I would go see a doctor. May be it is connected with something taht happened to you in your childhood.
Reply:Well, bless your heart....I'm just slightly OCD about things like that, and have a grandson that is showing a lot of symptoms of OCD, but I don't have any advice other than you just need to try not to think about it. Would it help if you cleaned the shower floor before you got in? Put your mind somewhere else entirely, instead of thinking about your feet on the shower floor? I don't know........ could you put a rubber mat on the shower floor, maybe?......... I'm a hand washer myself and I hate it. I've not always been this way and I don't know what caused it, but I try not to let it bother me. I have to stop myself occasionally and ask myself "how rational is this?". Doesn't help much, but I try not to worry about it for fear of making it worse.
Hope someone can suggest something to help you.
Reply:I do that, but not in my own shower. I do that in hotels, anyone else's shower and when I first move into a new place until I have cleaned it a lot. I don't have OCD and I'm not a neat-freak, but I have that same issue with getting grossed out by my feet on the shower floor even if I know it's clean. I even have to buy new flip flops each time I shower somewhere new (can't use old flip flops). I can't really tell you how to get over it....just wanted to let you know you're not alone. I thought I was the only one like this too.
